Wedding Events at Haywood Hall

WEDDING CEREMONY
Many couples choose our intimate garden setting to share their vows. Our gardens are graced with resplendent color year round, and particularly the months of March through November. There are many settings throughout the gardens that couples have created for their ceremony, and three sites that are used often:

Front yard – Couples stand at the foot of the front porch with chairs on the front lawn, angled, facing toward the house. The bride sometimes comes from either side of the house, but more commonly takes a short walk or gets a ride to the front of the house and comes down the traditional center aisle, our front brick walk bordered by Impatiens in May through October and Pansies in November through April.

Side yard between the two arbors – The wedding party typically stands in front of the two fraternal Hick Nut trees growing in the front of the side yard, or in front of either arbor. The chairs are typically set up with a center aisle, and the bride and her attendants approach from either the side of the house or the gazebo area.

Gazebo – For groups typically up to about 80 people, many brides and grooms select the gazebo to share their vows. Chairs are arranged surrounding the circular gazebo for this intimate setting, nestled among our Dogwood trees and flower beds.

WEDDING RECEPTIONS
The first floor of the house, the porch and the entire yard are available for wedding receptions. Some couples decide to arrange tables and chairs throughout the side and/or front yards, while others select an intimate corner of the yard, perhaps surrounding the gazebo, to share the occasion with their close friends.

Some brides arrange to have all the food and beverages served buffet style outside, often with the cake in the gazebo. Sometimes caterers serve in one location and other times they create serving stations with a different course at each location.

Alternatively, some brides have the food served on the dining room table in the house and arrange tables and chairs outside for guests to enjoy themselves. If the weather is threatening, we often put the beverages on the back porch. You are welcome to select whatever combination of serving options you wish.
